A bizarre
incident occurred at the ATP 250
Cordoba Open when an X-rated video was
broadcasted on the giant screen at the Polo Deportivo Kempes. On the first day
of competition on February 5th, a spectator shared a video displaying explicit
content on the big screen in the food & drink area of the Argentine
tournament.
Cordoba
marks the beginning of the South American clay season with a main draw led by
local players
Francisco Cerundolo (No. 22), Tomas Etcheverry (No. 28), and
Sebastian Baez (No. 30).
However,
the tournament's first major news unfolded right at the beginning. Social media
users were shocked by the explicit sexual content displayed in a public area.
Since it was early in the morning, there were few people in the food &
drink zone, although there could have been minors present at the location. You can watch the video at the end of the article.
Main Draw
Cordoba Open:
Returning
to tennis, the Argentine legion is set for a historic Cordoba Open, boasting 13
players in the main draw, a feat not seen since the 2009 French Open. It's
noteworthy that while Roland Garros features a draw of 128 players, the Cordoba
Open in Argentina will host just 28 players, essentially almost half of the
main draw being local talents.
Among the
Argentine contenders, three are currently ranked in the top 30: 'Fran'
Cerundolo, 'Seba' Baez, and 'Tomi' Etcheverry. The lineup also includes the
former world No. 8 Diego Schwartzmann and the 2021 champion Juan Manuel
Cerundolo.
However,
the draw will showcase other notable players, including past champions Albert
Ramos-Vinolas (2022) and Chilean Cristian Garin. Chile will also be represented
by the hero of the recent Davis Cup, Alejandro Tabilo, who has had an
impressive start to the year and currently sits at 10th in the ATP Race. Other
South Americans vying for the title include Daniel Elahi Galan, Juan Pablo
Varillas, Tomas Barrios, Hugo Dellien, and Thiago Seyboth Wild.
