Holger Rune is facing Jannik Sinner at the Monte-Carlo Masters after his crazy victory over Grigor Dimitrov yesterday. But one moment will stand out above the rest as the Dane tried to take on the crowd in a pivotal moment of the contest.
Rune received a time violation warning and the crowd cheered. Rune then told them to be quiet with a gesture aimed towards them with his hands. He was then given a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct which he of course fumed at. He then asked for the supervisor to be called.
“Call the supervisor. You can’t give me a warning for this. I didn’t say a bad word. I went like this to tell them to be quiet (hand gesture)," said Rune to the umpire. "Saying be quiet is a lack of respect," quipped the umpire.
"You know what’s lack of respect? That they’re not quiet when I’m serving. Call the supervisor," replied Rune and the pantomime villain of Monaco was booed even more furiously at a pivotal juncture in the match too as Sinner then took it to a tie-break as he looked to win in two. Was Rune in the right or wrong?
