Former Olympic Gold medalist Jack Sock had an impressive beginning to his pickleball career as he defeated the world number four Connor Garnett in the Hyundai Masters, Palm Springs, California.
The 31-year-old recently announced retirement from professional tennis after the end of the US Open 2023 but has started brightly in the pickleball category where he defeated the world number four in the quarterfinal of the event with a score of 4-11, 11-9, 11-2.
Sock later went on to defeat Jay Devilliers in the last-eight clash but eventually lost in the semifinal to Federico Staksrud. Sock had a rather successful career in professional tennis where he ended up winning six ATP titles. It is because of this reason he managed to achieve a career-high ranking of eight in 2017.
His records at the Grand Slam do not make a pretty reading where he never managed to play in the quarterfinal or beyond in any of the mega-events.
His most notable success on the court while playing tennis came in 2016 when he won the Olympic Gold for his country in the mixed doubles category as he along with his partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands managed to defeat Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram in the final with a score of 6–7(3–7), 6–1, [10–7].
