A significant practice session has recently occurred between
Jannik Sinner and
Holger Rune. for contrasting reasons, these two have been through a turbulent patch, more the case for Rune, but are now on court together practicing.
With the grass swing fully underway, the duo are not set to be competing in any tournaments up until Wimbledon, or at least in Sinner's case. Rune is still making his way back form an achilles injury, and has been forced to push his return back to a more realistic date.
The Dane suffered a
horrific injury back at the Stockholm Open last year and had a timeline of around nine months at least on the sidelines. The achilles is a tricky part of the body to recover from with setbacks common at times. Rune put a lot of work in keeping himself fit and healthy ready for the day of his return, motivated to make a comeback and get back to the level he was once competing at.
He was set to make a surprising return on clay ahead of Roland Garros. This was much sooner that the US Open return date many had predicted and estimated. However, he did not make his return in that period of the year, continuing to wait for the right moment. That has not come yet with tennis fans still not sure when the 23-year-old will compete after
withdrawing from Queen's.
Sinner's recent issues have been a lot less serious but still a huge talking point. He collapsed dramatically in the second round of Roland Garros against Tomas Martin Etchaverry. Leading 5-1 in the third, he won just two more games for the rest of the match as the Argentine swiftly disposed of an unwell and struggling Sinner.
He was the huge favourite to lift the title after winning his last 30 matches and five consecutive Masters 1000 titles. However, it was not to be which made headlines all around the world. He went to different locations for
medical checks in Italy to see if there was an underlying problem, but all the tests came back with positive results. He will now sit out of the action, rest and recover after a busy period with a Wimbledon title defence on the horizon.

Sinner and Rune on court together
A
video surfaced of both Sinner and Rune on a hardcourt training together in Monaco. The pair will be looking to keep their fitness and sharpness at a high level, making this session together a lot of sense.
Both seem to be moving well but not exerting too much energy in the short video filmed. It is really promising signs for Rune to be back on court and hitting with a high calibre opponent. He had regularly filmed his comeback, all the stages from not being able to stand to again moving freely on court.
It is unknown when his comeback will be, but he will be itching to get back to competition. Sinner's is a lot more clear. With no Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon, he will again be the overwhelming favourite to secure a second Grand Slam title at SW19 and a fifth in total. The tournament will take place from 29 June - July 12.
