Coleman Wong advanced to the second round of the Cap Cana Challenger after defeating Damir Dzumhur 3–6, 6–4, 6–2 in a match that featured a brief on-court confrontation late in the deciding set. The Hong Kong player recovered from a slow start to take control of the match, turning the momentum with more consistent serving and baseline play.
The key moment arrived early in the third set when Wong broke serve to move ahead 4–1. The break came after a double fault from Dzumhur, a point that immediately triggered visible frustration from the Bosnian player, who approached the net and began addressing his opponent directly.
Video of the exchange quickly circulated online, showing Dzumhur questioning the situation in a sarcastic tone while gesturing toward Wong. The former ATP Tour regular repeatedly referenced the point that ended the game, remarking that it had come “on a double fault.”
Despite the tension, Wong remained largely silent and avoided engaging in the dispute. The match continued without further escalation as the Hong Kong player returned to the baseline and prepared for the next game.

Confrontation follows decisive third-set break

Dzumhur's frustration appeared to stem not only from the double fault but also from the impression that Wong had reacted to the moment across the net. During the exchange, the Bosnian delivered several sarcastic remarks while confronting his opponent. “Yes on a double fault,” Dzumhur was heard saying on the television broadcast up to three times.
He also questioned Wong’s reaction, repeating phrases such as “funny, huh?” — also repeated several times — before adding a more direct comment during the brief exchange at the net: “Look at my face and laugh.” The Bosnian repeated this phrase three more times. The situation did not escalate further, and Wong continued to focus on the match. The Hong Kong player consolidated the break and maintained control of the rallies, forcing Dzumhur to take greater risks from the baseline.
Wong eventually closed out the match 6–2 in the final set, completing a comeback after losing the opening set 3–6. With the victory, he advances to the second round of the Cap Cana Challenger, where he will face the winner of the match between Dalibor Svrčina and Alexander Blockx.
The Punta Cana Challenger 175 tournament began this week with a particularly strong draw for a Challenger event, including players such as Hubert Hurkacz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Miomir Kecmanović, and Dzumhur.
