Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic had an expletive
rant at a fan in the Monte Carlo Masters. The 36-year-old, who is often regarded
as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era in the
singles category, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic had a rather disappointing outing at the
Monte-Carlo Masters where he was knocked out after losing in the semifinal to
Norway’s Casper Ruud with a score of 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. In a video that appeared
on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — the number
one-ranked ATP player can be seen having a rant at a fan who is sitting in the
arena.
That rant was clearly understandable as this was the third
consecutive event this year where the reigning world number one failed to book
a place in the final this season. He is yet to get past the last-four stage in
the 2024 season. Previously, in the first Grand Slam of the season, Djokovic lost
in the semifinal to the current world number two Italy’s Jannik Sinner with a
score of 6-1, 6-2, 6,7, 6-3. Later at the Indian Wells, the Belgrade-born lost in
the round of 32 to another Italian, this time Luca Nardi, with a score of 6-4, 3-6,
6-3.
