Novak Djokovic has seemingly embraced his role as the villain as he was loudly booed at the end of his match for his celebration despite it having a special meaning for his daughter and not in fact being used to annoy the Wimbledon masses.
Djokovic did the celebration after he defeated Alexei Popyrin where instead of his usual raising of his arms and the IDEMO celebration, he grabs his racquet and plays it as a violin.
His daughter Tara as he explained after his win over Popyrin has recently started playing violin and she could be seen jumping up and done smiling seeing her dad do the celebration. This is after he made the admission that she'd rather read than watch him play.
“The celebration was for Tara,” he said. “She’s played the violin for a couple of months now.”
"I like celebrations by Bolt, CR7's ‘Sui’, Agassi with his waving,” he added. “Guga with a heart on Roland Garros, Tsonga, Bellingham with arms spread - a lot of interesting ones"
But the crowd didn't particularly take too kindly to it. Half way through they decided to start booing as they did for part of his win over Lorenzo Musetti to reach yet another Wimbledon final. A tennis miracle with his season in perspective after he had a meniscus tear mere weeks ago. Since then he has now reached his first final of the season and could get a record equalling eighth Wimbledon title. All buoyed by the crowd taking their annoyance out on him.
