Safe to say that Joao Fonseca won't be sleeping very well tonight as his fans watched him get beaten by Hamad Medjedovic in a topsy turvy affair at the Rome Open.
But it was the Brazilian fans who were told to pipe down by the Serbian after he sealed the win. He spoke at great length after the contest about his thoughts surrounding them and said that it actually helped him.
Medjedovic in the end won 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 and gave it the put em to sleep afterwards as the Brazilian fans made disgruntled hand gestures at him from the stands. But Fonseca won't be winning this week and heads forward.
Medjedovic, on the other hand, heads to the next round safe in the knowledge that he was firmly in the winners' circle in multiple facets
"The crowd helped me a lot. His fans helped me a lot. I think they were... I will not comment on it, but they helped me a lot. I think I was very, as some would say, ‘locked in’ after being down 6-5 in the 3rd. I was just quiet and wanted to give my best and that's it. I'm really happy to be through," said Medjedovic.
