Roger
Federer received pizza-making lessons in New York as part of a series of videos
by Uniqlo.
The 20-time
Grand Slam champion is featured in the series called "24 hours with Roger
Federer in NYC," where he explores the streets of the American city.
Federer will appear in four episodes of the Uniqlo series, as he has been the
main ambassador for the Japanese company since 2017 when he left Nike.
In the
video titled 'Rollin in the Dough,' Federer is seen at 'Scarr's Pizza,'
learning how to toss and bake pizza with the owner, Scarr Pimentel, and then
enjoying a slice.
"Do
you think you can maybe teach me some of the tricks on how to make a pizza? I
mean, if I come home, you know, super dad, let me show them I learned something
in New York City. I'm looking forward to reuniting with the family and having a
pizza night," Federer said to Pimentel.
In the
introductory video, the former world No. 1 expressed his admiration for the
city of New York, where the
US Open takes place. Federer has fond memories of
the tournament, having won it five times in a row between 2004 and 2008, and
reaching two finals, one against Juan Martín del Potro in 2009 and another
against Novak Djokovic in 2015.
Federer
praised the city's unique style and his love for it, as well as the
enthusiastic tennis fans who make it one of the most vibrant tennis
environments in the world.
"I'm returning
to the home of the US Open, the city that gave us a slam, celebrated for its
innovation, bold style, and some of the liveliest fans tennis has ever known. I
love meeting good people who do their work from a place of passion, who share a
love for tennis too. I love New York.
