Wednesday in Tokyo started with three first round matches, which were later followed by second round matches in which also Novak Djokovic played.

David Goffin started the third day against Chengdu Open champion Pablo Carreno-Busta. The Spaniard initially picked up on a great form in China, winning the first set in 30 minutes 6-1. In the second he led 4-2, but Goffin managed to win 11 out of the following 13 games and turned the match.
However, a similar thing could not be done by the eighth seeded Alex De Minaur. He lost the first set 6-3 and in the tie-break of the second he was already losing 5-3. But despite the fact that he managed to turn the second set and he had 2 match balls in the third, he could not win the match, and he said goodbye to the tournament already in the first round.
Yasutaka Uchiyama, who lost the first set with Albot, started the second round matches and, like Goffin, turned the match.
Novak Djokovic, Reilly Opelka and Lucas Pouille also advanced after two set victories.
