Novak Djokovic played in the second round of the Rakuten Japan Open against local favorite Go Soeda.
The first set went very smoothly, after a quick break in the 3rd game and in the 9th game, to Djokovic with 6-3.
In the second set the Serbian could serve for the match at 5-3 after breaking on 4-3. Soeda did not give up and regrouped to break back to level the set to 5-5.
Soeda, who won from Struff in the previous round, got a break point on 5-5, but Djokovic finally won his own serve and finished it with a love game on the serve from Souda.
Djokovic, who
defeated Alexei Popyrin in round 2, will play against the winner of the match between Nishioka and Pouille in the quarter finals of the
Japan Open.
