Former world number one
Andy Roddick has heaped praise on
Spain’s legendary tennis star
Rafael Nadal. The 37-year-old is often regarded
as one of the greatest player in the history of the men’s singles tennis in the
Open era, having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles.
Roddick, who won the US Open in 2003 after beating Spain’s Juan
Carlos Ferrero in the final with a score of 6–3, 7–6(7–2), 6–3, was recently quoted
in a report where he heaped praise on Nadal and believes that the tennis world is
lucky to have someone like the Spaniard.
"We are lucky to have someone like Rafa in tennis for
as long as we have,” said the 41-year-old “Every single person he comes across,
it's like he doesn't have an off day with people, right?”
"Shaking hands of every single person, there's no
chance he can feel like doing that crap every day. There's just no chance. True
gentleman, I like that and it felt like a celebration of him in like a thank
you for what you have given us over the years.”
Nadal, who recently returned to the court after a gap of
nearly one year, will now take part in the Indian Wells where he will face
Canada’s Milos Raonic in the round of 32 clash on Thursday.
