Novak Djokovic is no longer number one in the world but the Serbian can reclaim it with a couple of things happening and we bring you what needs to happen.
Alcaraz reclaimed the top spot from Djokovic after winning the Indian Wells Masters but it's not set in stone that he will remain at number one. Djokovic can make himself number one again, especially with a very good part of the year coming up for Alcaraz who will have to defend a lot of points.
Alcaraz is the defending champion in Miami for example and if he fails to win it he'll drop some points there. Alcaraz will need to defend his trophy in order to keep the number one rank and from there it's a very similar situation. Both Djokovic and Alcaraz have about 1500 points to defend leading up to
Roland Garros as Alcaraz won Barcelona and Madrid with Djokovic having a good run in Madrid and winning Rome.
It's going to be an interesting few weeks as the battle for number one will be present all through the clay season including Roland Garros. Alcaraz himself wants to play Djokovic on the court as we haven't seen them play since Madrid last year.
“Novak is one of the best players in the world. That’s obvious. If
you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. I wish to play against him many more times.”
