When do Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios team up for doubles in Brisbane?

The partnership between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios to kick off the season has caught everyone’s attention ahead of the Brisbane International. The 2022 Wimbledon final opponents, will team up for the first time, debuting against doubles specialists Austrian Alexander Erler and German Andreas Mies.

The duo announced their partnership weeks ago after it was confirmed that the Australian selected Brisbane as the tournament for his return after two years off the courts. As for Djokovic, while he had previously headed straight to Melbourne in recent years, this time, he opted for a warm-up event ahead of the Australian Open.

Can Djokovic and Kyrgios shine as a doubles team?

Kyrgios boasts a 68-56 record in doubles and achieved his best result at the 2022 Aussie Open, winning the title alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis in front of the home crowd. Djokovic, on the other hand, holds a 64-80 doubles record across his career.

“He kept messaging me over and over again,” Kyrgios revealed in a press conference. “I was just like, I’ll give him a little handout and give him the pleasure of playing doubles with me.”

“It’s going to be a lot of fun. Look, a kid from Canberra gets to play with the greatest of all time in his hometown in front of the fans—it’s pretty special,” Kyrgios added. “It’s something I’ll be able to tell people when it’s all said and done, that I played doubles with him. It’s pretty special.”

The tournament organizers announced that Djokovic and Kyrgios will feature at the main stadium, Pat Rafter Arena, opening the night session at 6:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. CET, 3:30 a.m. ET). Following the doubles match, the evening will continue with Tunisia's Ons Jabeur—returning after months away from competition—facing China’s Saisai Zheng.
