"When something fails the engine can't work" - Djokovic after Belgrade loss

Novak Djokovic suffered an unusual collapse in his final match against Andrey Rublev leaving many in doubt about his physical condition.

Djokovic was seen heavily breathing a couple of times during the match at times even struggling to catch his breath. After the loss, he had some choice words which left many people wondering whether there was something wrong physically.

He said:

“I apologize because of the way the 3rd set unfolded. It’s an individual sport, when something fails, the engine can’t work. Lots of emotions, thank you for pushing me to the finals."

Djokovic looked fine during the trophy ceremony and even cracked a few smiles but his collapse was very unusual to see. It might just be fatigue as the Serbian played a couple of brutal matches this week going three sets in all matches played.

He also paid respect to his opponent saying he is a great champion and grea guy.

"You are a great champion, a great guy. Belgrade loves you so please come back to defend your title"
