Several prominent names in the tennis world won't be playing at the Australian Open and we bring you a reminder of those players are.
The first big event of every tennis year is the Australian Open. It's an event that starts pretty early in the tennis season and serves as a great way to build excitement for the new year. Every year a couple of big names miss the event and 2023 is no exception. The number one player on the ATP side of things, Carlos Alcaraz will miss the event.
He picked up an injury during practice and will be missing the event. Reilly Opelka is another player who has been injured for a while and he too will be missing the event. On the WTA side of things, we need to start with Venus Williams who picked up an injury a week before the event as she was making her comeback to tennis.

Naomi Osaka is another player who is missing the event as the reason for the former champion's absence is not known. Speculations say she's considering stepping away from tennis. Those are some of the biggest players that will be missing the event but it's luckily a short list.

- Having spent weeks and weeks through the years on tour, I can say with confidence that Conchita was (is) one of the very few who realize the surprising level of maturity (and sometimes lack of) which Mirra seems to have developed in such a demanding adult world of Pro-Tennis. While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth. It's a major sacrifice, among countless sacrifices, these athletes must make.
