Novak Djokovic's greatness can't be argued with says
Andre Agassi who pointed out that the 24-time Grand Slam champion has won more Australian Opens (10) than he has won Grand Slams.
Four-time champion in Melbourne, Agassi landed in the country and spoke to CODE Sports about the dominance of the Serbian over time in Australia. He has won the title 10 times and is aiming for a record extending 11th over the next 15 days.
“Novak has won more Australian Opens than I’ve won Slams for crying out loud … What do you do but laugh? I don’t know what to say to that,” the former player said, as per CODE Sports.
This also lends itself to the GOAT debate and he said that in addition, the record of Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros cannot be compared to the
Australian Open record for Djokovic as both are monumental feats in their own right.
“These are different numbers. It’s like talking about Rafa in Paris, right? I don’t understand it,” Agassi added.
“There’s so many ways to look at it, but when you look at it on paper you just can’t argue with what he’s accomplished. The amount that he’s won, the head-to-heads, the Masters, the year-end No.1s, the weeks at No.1 … All those stats."
