Roger Federer is currently rehabbing from a 3rd knee surgery he had after his loss at Wimbledon and the Swiss ace shared an update saying that the surgery was a success, the rehab is going great and he will be back to regular tennis in 2022. He said:
"The worst is behind me, I'm looking forward to all that is coming up."
Federer made the comments while attending a Mercedes-Benz event in Zurich where he also explained that he can't wait to get back onto the court even though he is taking it one step at a time:
"When you come back from an injury, every day is a better day. An exciting time. It's not a problem mentally."
Federer also touched upon the Laver Cup which will happen this week saying that missing it hurts a lot. It's the first edition he will miss since the event started. Asked whether he would play in it next year he said:
"It's one of my goals that I really get back into it in order to come back and play there."
The event will be held in London in the famous O2 Arena where the Nitto ATP Finals were held for over a decade. Federer has many great memories of that venue and he would like to be back next year.
