Alexander Zverev survived a tough test on Sunday at BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells to open his campaign for a third ATP Masters 1000 of the season.
Zverev overcame the Next Gen star who has been mightily impressive all season 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in just under two hours to set up a showdown with Andy Murray in the third round.
He won 73% of first serve points including 12 aces, as well as 28 winners albeit with more unforced errors in 35 than his opponent who only hit 14.
After taking the opener, Brooksby did halt his momentum by coming from a break down to win the second however Zverev broke for 2-0 in the deciding set which proved to be a turning point as he sweeped through including with a trio of aces.
