Aliaksandra Sasnovich has picked up another scalp this week at BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells with Simona Halep falling by the wayside in a 7-5, 6-4 win for the Belarusian.
The 2015 Indian Wells Champion is the latest big name to head home with one of the biggest also falling to Sasnovich in Emma Raducanu earlier this week.
Winning a tremendous 82% of first serve points in the tie, she also claimed 22 winners compared to Halep's 16 but despite less unforced errors, it wasn't enough for the former World No.1 to claim victory.
In particular 2/6 break points, while dropping serve four times stands out in defeat for Halep who let a 40-0 lead in the opener slip away to hold serve and despite Sasnovich not taking the initial opportunity to serve out the set, another break was awarded at 6-5 to claim the set.
Despite Halep making it back to 4-4 as well, Sasnovich upped her level at the end to surge through and the winner of Petra Kvitova and Victoria Azarenka will now await.
