Alexander Zverev competed at the Western & Southern Open six times however he is still looking for his first win.
Alexander Zverev is looking to rectify a bizarre stat in regards to his performance at the Western & Southern Open. The Olympic singles gold medallist never won a match at the ATP 1000 Masters. He has an 0-6 score in six previous attempts and he will be looking to change that.
Zverev lost in the first rounds of 2015 and 2016 and three times in the 2nd round of the event (2017, 2018 and 2019). The last time he played (in 2019) he lost to Andy Murray who was playing his first event that year. This time around the German is arriving in good spirits after winning the gold medal.
Speaking ahead of the event Zverev explained he was excited to continue playing tennis at the highest level. He was still feeling bubbly after winning the gold medal but his hunger for more is there. He said he was not yet satisfied. He will try to prove that against either Nishioka or Harris. Both can be tricky especially if Harris puts up a serving clinic.
