Alexander Zverev is playing some of the best tennis of his life yet the German is frustrated with the number of questions about the domestic abuse allegations he is facing.
Alexander Zveverv has been living with domestic abuse allegations for a while after his ex-girlfriend accused him of physically abusing her during their relationship. Zverev denied the allegations and the situation calmed down. However it came back up again after an article detailing all of the allegations was published online.
Zverev announced he would sue the author and the publication while once again maintaining his innocence. That did not stop reporters from repeatedly asking questions about it and Zverev has had enough. He fired back:
"I'm not going to comment on it any further. I have been dealing with it for a long time and you guys need to be fair to me because we are talking about mental health to players and this is not healthy for me."
It's a savvy response from Zverev that holds merit to a degree but the use of the recent mental health spotlight in tennis in order to shift focus from the allegations will not sit well with many. Either way, Zverev is refusing any questions on the matter yet reporters will most likely continue to ask them. To be continued.
