Alexander Zverev was quick in his first-round match at the US Open against Sam Querrey.
The German dominated from start to finish against the American beating him 6-4 7-5 6-2. After the match, the German gave a post-match press conference and naturally Zverev was asked about the Tsitsipas thing. It was Zverev who accused Tsitsipas first of getting coaching during a prolonged toilet break that the Greek took in Cincinnati.
Zverev did not miss the chance to take a shot at Tsitsipas:
"Stefanos can play very well if he doesn't go to the moon and back for a toilet break. I had to, sorry."
Afther that initial joke his tone changed to serious and he elaborated:
"It's happening every match. It's not normal. It happens to me at the French Open, to Novak at the finals of the French Open. In Hamburg, he was complaining about something. Against me in Cincinnati was ridiculous. Players are catching up on that."
When asked whether he thinks he is getting coached via phone he said:
"He's gone for 10 plus minutes. His dad is texting on the phone. He comes out and his tactics completely change. So either it's a very magical place he goes to or there's communication there."
Zverev closed out his responses to the questions on that matter by saying:
"It's like an unwritten rule between players. Yes, I've been breaking racquets, I go insane sometimes but one thing I'm very proud of is I win and lose on the tennis court."
