After four consecutive losses, Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo have returned to winning ways on Thursday (27 April) afternoon at the Madrid Open.
The Brazilian and German duo advanced to the second round of the Masters 1000 in Madrid with victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Emil Ruusuvuori by 7-6(6), 6-3, in 1h25.
They had lost all three of their matches this year together and had not won together since Monte-Carlo last year. They spent the entire match not losing serve and saved a set point in the first set.
But in the end, they prevailed over the new duo and will face Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden next up.
