History of the Estoril Open

The Estoril Open is an ATP clay court tennis tournament held in the Portuguese Riviera. The event takes place at the sports complex of Clube de Ténis do Estoril in Cascais. The tournament was created in 2015 to replace the historic Portugal Open, which was canceled due to lack of sponsorships. The tournament was created by former Dutch tennis player Benno van Veggel and Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes.
The tournament is part of the ATP Tour 250 series and has a prize money of €562,815 (2023). The tournament has been won by several notable players such as Richard Gasquet, Nicolás Almagro, Pablo Carreño Busta, João Sousa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Albert Ramos Viñolas, Sebastián Báez, and Casper Ruud . The doubles event has also seen some great players such as Treat Huey, Scott Lipsky, Marc López, David Marrero, Eric Butorac, Łukasz Kubot, Marcin Matkowski, Ryan Harrison, Michael Venus, Jérémy Chardy, Fabrice Martin, Luke Bambridge, Jonny O’Mara, Hugo Nys, Tim Pütz, Nuno Borges, Francisco Cabral, Máximo González, and André Göransson.
The current title holder of this tournament is Casper Ruud.
