Just like the Italy v Poland
Billie Jean King Cup Finals tie yesterday, the other semi-final will also go into a doubles decider after
Rebecca Sramkova continued her superb form on Tuesday for Slovakia against Great Britain.
Sramkova has been the anchor for Slovakia this week and continues to rise up the ranks. She has abrely lost in the latter half of the year and prevailed in a decider against
Katie Boulter winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Boulter had the tougher test than Emma Raducanu who set Great Britain on their way in their opener. But Boulter has made light work earlier this week of Laura Siegemund and Leylah Fernandez so was favourite to win through.
But Sramkova's epic form carried her through as Olivia Nicholls and Heather Watson will be called upon for the first time this week.
Albeit Boulter had the lead and looked to be easing away but it slipped through her hands as Sramkova thrived at being the leader for Slovakia. Boulter clawed back the second set after being 4-1 down breaking serve but crumbled as she lost her serve at the brink 6-4.
Again she did the same in the decider as she came from 3-1 down to level up at 4-4 and after capitalising on her break, she was broken again in the final game. Now it is the turn of the doubles duo to play their first game of the week. Can Slovakia spring another shock?
"It didn't start in the best way for me, she was serving and returning amazing in the first set. It was tough for me to play how I wanted. I was trying to push her more but it was impossible in the first set. I'm happy I was pushing more in the second and third set and we got a point," said Sramkova.
"We are enjoying every match. We have nothing to lose, we are just trying to do our best. I don't think the girls have pressure, I don't have pressure either because we are underdogs."
