Danielle Collins drew the ire of the crowd at the Australian Open in her last match and it didn't seem to help her as she was defeated by Madison Keys with injury seeming to play a factor in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.

In the all American battle, Keys saw off the No.10 seed to move through into the Last 16. Two days prior Collins got into it with the Melbourne crowd as she told them to kiss her behind, blew kisses at them as she won and cupped her ear.

She also spoke on court afterwards and said that they are paying her bills and giving her a fatter paycheck. As a result on walking out onto Rod Laver Arena on Saturday, she was heavily booed.

Throughout the match, these boos continued and was the case after she ended up losing out to Keys who is a childhood friend so wouldn't harbour her own animosity towards Collins.

But Collins also struggled. She seemed to be dealing with a physical issue on her left knee and called the physio during the second set in order to deal with it before she was then defeated by Keys.

Keys earned a break early in the piece and she held from there to bag the opening set. Down by a set, the 2022 Australian Open runner-up responded by sealing a break and opening up a 3-0 lead. Just as the momentum seemed to be shifting Collins way though, disaster struck as she suffered back-to-back breaks and lost four games in a row before taking a medical timeout.

While she was able to resume, she wasn't back firing and Keys easily served out the match. Keys had more success overall as she hit 24 winners and 27 unforced errors with Collins hitting less of the latter but also only 12 winners. Now Keys takes on Rybakina in the Last 16.
