Karolina Muchova has sent Czech Republic into a winning position in the Quarter-Finals of the 2025 United Cup and has done exactly what she did at the US Open and dismantle Jasmine Paolini.

Muchova has a perfect record against Paolini sitting at 5-0 and defeated the World No.4 6-2, 6-2 to give her country the lead with the pressure now on Flavio Cobolli to give Italy some semblance of a chance. He though faces Tomas Machac who will look to finish the job.

After failing in the group stages over the last two appearances, the Czech Republic are now bidding to reach their first ever United Cup semi-final. Italy finished runners-up in the inaugural edition in 2023 and currently hold the other two main teams titles in the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup.

Albeit the combo tournament in the United Cup seems them without Sinner, Berrettini and even Musetti in their team with Paolini's heavy lifting in this case against Muchova who provides a nightmare for her as has been proven including at the US Open couldn't be combatted.

"I really wanted to bring a point to the team so I was trying to stay focused," Muchova said. "Jasmine is an unbelievable player. It was a really tough match. I knew I had to go until the end. She had many break chances. I think I served well. I'm really happy I made it."

Paolini has won only one set in the pair's five meetings with Muchova winning 6-3, 6-1 at Flushing Meadows and became one sided again after the first four games. Muchova maintained constant pressure and won the longest game of the match converting a fifth break point and lost just two more games for the remainder of the match.

Muchova's return has been marvelled at and it is matches like this that show why. Onto Cobolli v Machac, what way will this tie spin?
