Ashleigh Barty has continued to enjoy time with her family following her retirement from tennis, posting an adorable photo of her baby son Hayden in a sling wearing a bucket hat.
The three-time Grand Slam champion shocked the tennis world in March 2022 when she announced her retirement at just 25 years old. This made her the second player to retire while holding the World No. 1 ranking, as she explained that she had lost the drive to challenge herself in the sport.
"I don't have the physical drive, the emotional want and everything it takes to challenge yourself at the very top of the level any more. I am spent," she said at the time in an interview with her friend and former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua.
The Australian former player then married professional golfer Garry Kissick in July 2022 before announcing that they were expecting their first child in January of this year. They welcomed their baby son Hayden in July of this year.
Since then, Barty has provided updates on her time spent with Hayden on social media and recently shared an adorable photo of him in a sling and wearing a bucket hat on her Instagram story.
In her final interview before giving birth, Barty shut down any possibility of her returning to the top levels of tennis in the future.
"No ... plain and simple ... I’m very excited to spend some time with our family.
"Like I said, I’ve had such an amazing career. I have absolutely no regrets … Happy to move onto different things," she said.
