Garbine Muguruza recently attended the Women in Sport Awards in Barcelona, where she was honored with a prestigious trophy.
The Spanish player is a two-time Grand Slam champion, having won the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017. She was also World No. 1 for four weeks from September 11 - October 8 2017.
In February, Muguruza revealed that she was taking a break from the sport after a string of early exits, culminating in a first-round defeat to Linda Noskova at the Lyon Open.
In April, she announced that she was extending her hiatus to prioritize her health by spending time with family and friends.
Since then, the 30-year-old has said that she has "no intention" of returning to the WTA Tour, suggesting that she may be retiring soon. Nevertheless, she is still invested in sports, as was shown by her attendance at the 15th Women in Sport Awards in Barcelona.
Muguruza honored with Sports Talent Award
At the ceremony, Muguruza won the Sports Talent Award and posed with her trophy on the streets of the city. Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati, boxer Joana Pastrana, and snowboarder Queralt Castellet were among the other winners of the evening.
In the photos, Muguruza stunned in a deep-red halter neck gown by Carolina Herrera, while also showing off her Rolex watch, for whom she is an ambassador.
"One night in Barcelona. Thank you @woman_es@diariosport for this award," she wrote in Spanish on her Instagram.
