Patrick
Mouratoglou honestly admitted his chances of winning a match against Holger
Rune.
The
Frenchman has been one of the most prominent coaches accompanying elite players
in recent years. Perhaps his most notable partnership has been with Serena
Williams, with whom he has won 10 Grand Slam titles in her career.
With one of
the most reputable tennis academies globally, where several of the world's top
players train, Mouratoglou also has associations with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova,
Grigor Dimitrov, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff, and recently, the suspended
Simona Halep and Holger Rune.
Mouratoglou
has amassed a significant following on his social media platforms, where he
shares videos offering tennis tips and training advice for fans. Additionally,
he shares his opinions on the performance of some players on the ATP Tour,
garnering more than 1 million followers.
The coach
shared a video of himself playing on a clay court, demonstrating some good
tennis skills. In each clip he shared, Mouratoglou was seen winning points,
which caught the attention of some fans.
“Why you
never lost in your video? Try to beat Holger Rune please .. your ex student ..
with a serious match,” some fan commented.
“I have
Zero Chance to even score a game!” Patrick Mouratoglou humorously admitted in
response.
Mouratoglou
joined Rune's coaching team in 2022 after Simona Halep announced that she would
end her year due to a nose surgery, intending to return in early 2023. However,
Halep's suspension was revealed shortly after. During this period, Mouratoglou
worked alongside Lars Christensen, the head coach.
Rune achieved
significant success during this collaboration, winning the Stockholm Open and
securing a Masters 1000 title in Paris-Bercy, defeating Novak Djokovic in the
final. However, they recently decided to part ways due to a series of poor
results for Rune, including a first-round exit at the US Open.
“Unfortunately,
all the stories have to come to an end. I took the utmost pleasure with you and
I will always be your supporter. All Mouratoglou Academy stays behind you. Good
luck my friend," the Frenchman said about the split on Instagram.
