Roger
Federer appeared in a promotional video for "Act for Early Years,"
which aims to ensure a better start in the lives of children.
The
20-times Grand Slam champion has not only excelled as one of the greatest
tennis players of all time but has also become an icon that transcends the
boundaries of sports.
Throughout
the years,
Roger Federer has shown his commitment to working with foundations
and helping children, including the Roger Federer Foundation, which has already
assisted around 2.5 million children in benefiting from quality education.
The
foundation operates in seven countries and collaborates with more than 30
partner organizations.
This time,
the foundation of the former world No. 1 has formed an association with
Theirworld in the "Act for Early Years" campaign, a global movement
that aims to increase actions and investments in the early years of the lives
of millions of children.
Federer
appears alongside Ceren Yürümez, one of the youth ambassadors of TheirWorld.
“The
#EarlyYears are crucial, but millions of children around the world aren’t
receiving the quality care and education they need.
That’s why @rogerfederer
and @rogerfedererfdn have joined the global #ActForEarlyYears campaign so that
every child gets the best start in life.”
In the
video, Federer comments:
“It is so
important because 90% of brain development is happening before five years old
and we know early learning has a problem with under-funding. That got me so
motivated into learning myself and advocating, giving myself to that cause.”
“We really
try to have systemic change, to make sure as many children as possible can go
to school and have quality early learning.
“We believe
that if we give them a chance, things are going to be better. But education
doesn’t get the funding it deserves.”
