Former world number one America’s
John McEnroe was trolled by his BBC colleague Pat
Cash ahead of the
Wimbledon 2023 final.
The third Grand Slam of the year is set to conclude today
(Sunday) with a mouthwatering finale between world number one Carlos Alcaraz
and defending champion Novak Djokovic.
Before the final started, McEnroe took a jibe at Cash and
stated "Cashy it's great to see you in person, I've watched you on TV but
it is great to see you guys".
In response to that, the 1987 Wimbledon champions stated
that he only watches McEnroe until he manages to turn off the TV. “Likewise,
I've watched you on TV... until I can get to the off button," said the
58-year-old.
McEnroe remains one of the greatest players in the history
of men’s singles tennis in the Open era.
The 64-year-old won seven Grand Slam titles in the men’s
singles category in his illustrious career which lasted for 16 years.
His most successful Grand Slam was the US Open where he
ended up lifting the title four times — 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984.
Other than that, McEnroe also went on to win three Wimbledon
titles in his career in 1981, 1983 and 1984.
