"We're going to make it one day, I promise you" @Ons_Jabeur speaks after her #Wimbledon final defeat to Marketa Vondrousova
World number six Ons Jabeur has stated that she forgot to turn up in white clothing for the warmup before the Wimbledon 2023 final.
The 28-year-old was asked to leave the Centre Court ahead of the final of the third Grand Slam of the year on Saturday because she turned up in black clothing.
Talking about that, Tunisia’s tennis star stated that she completely forgot about the rules ahead of the big clash.
“No, I completely forgot the white rules,” she said. “When you go into a match court, you just dress up as normal clothes. For me, I completely forget that today I was warming up on Centre Court, it has to be all white. Yeah, I don't know, it was just an honest mistake.”
That day turned out to be a horrific one for Jabeur who ended up losing the final against Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The defeat was indeed a painful one for the Ksar El Hellar-born as this was her second consecutive loss in the final of Wimbledon.
Last year, she ended up short in the grand finale against Elena Rybakina with a score of 3–6, 6–2, 6–2.
