With the rise in the popularity of Pickleball over the last few years, it comes as no surprise that there have been several investments in the rapidly growing sport.
With stars like Lebron James, Naomi Osaka and Tom Brady investing in pickleball, several tennis centers have attempted to transition to pickleball in an attempt to feed off its popularity.
The Santa Monica Tennis Center, located in Los Angeles, CA, has opened a new facility on its premises, dubbed the Santa Monica Pickleball Center. Nearly half a million dollars was invested in the facility, which includes four new lighted outdoor pickleball courts.
"We believe this new center will bring in people from all over the country and potentially the world," said Julio Rivera, Director of Pickleball at the Santa Monica Tennis Center. "Organized leagues and tournaments will be offered in the next few months, and we encourage everyone to get involved no matter your skill level."
The $400,000 investment will also see the addition of four-thousand square feet of retail space, which will house the largest and most-varied inventory of pickleball equipment in all of Los Angeles.
