Andre Agassi shared a video alongside his wife Steffi Graf, announcing that they will be playing against Maria Sharapova and John McEnroe in Pickleball Slam 2.
The former German tennis player appeared in her husband's new promotional video, inviting fans to the pickleball event. Agassi has taken part in several pickleball exhibitions this year and will now team up with his wife Steffi Graf to challenge John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova.
While Agassi had previously participated in the Pickleball Slam alongside Andy Roddick, competing against the same McEnroe and Michael Chang, this time Steffi Graf expressed her excitement about being part of the second edition of the event.
"Hey guys, super excited. Hey Maria, hi John. Really looking forward to see you guys. We're getting ready. we're working hard, so yo've got to bring your A-game like Andre said,
Last year was such a blast, I can only imagine we're gonna have a great, great time. So, really looking forward to seeing you down at the Hardrock," German former world No. 1 said on the video.
In a showdown featuring four former world No. 1 players, the presence of Graf stands out, as she had not previously taken part in a pickleball exhibition and typically keeps herself away from such events.
The 23-time Grand Slam Champion expressed how much she was intrigued by pickleball when she attended the first edition alongside her husband Agassi.
"When I watched the inaugural Pickleball Slam in April and stepped onto the court, I was hooked. Andre and I can’t wait to get back out on the court together to face off against Maria and John," the German said.
This time, the Pickleball Slam will be in mixed doubles format, unlike the original edition, and is scheduled for February 4th at the Seminole Hardrock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
In between your Fun & Games -- how about you two start a rallying cry for the bullshit treatment of WTA/ATP players this season? Maybe play a 24-hour pickleball marathon and get a taste of what some of the WTA athletes had to endure in Montreal? Why is the sports world not pointing fingers in support of these men & ladies? As for WTA -- where the hell is Billie Jean King and her familiar habit of 'fighting for The Cause'? You telling me BJK is innocent in all this? WTA is her 'baby'...... but nothing to say or do about this dangerous trend of sunrise matches?
This is the only sport in the world I didn't know about. And I am gonna keep it that way.
