Advertorial: Following a surprise semi-final
defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open, Djokovic gave a somewhat cagey reply to reporters about his future. At 36, the Serbian tennis legend isn't quite ready to hang up his racket yet, but it does look like he will pick and choose future tournaments wisely. This could make things challenging for bettors who want to take advantage of early betting odds.
Djokovic's own website has stated that the next time he will feature in a tournament will be at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells which runs from March 6th to March 17th.
The Indian Wells Open, or Masters as it is sometimes called, is played outdoors on hardcourts and is a part of both the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 on the ATP and WTA tours respectively.
Outside of tennis' four Grand Slams, the Indian Wells Open boasts the highest attendance of any tennis event.
Djokovic has won the tournament five times, in 2008 and 2011, before going on to win it three years in a row from 2014 to 2016.
This tournament could set Djokovic up nicely for a French Open appearance with this tournament being held at the famous Roland Garros Stadium from May 20th to June 9th.
Djokovic is currently the second favourite to win in France and is priced at 5/2. The current favourite is Carlos Alcaraz at 9/5, with Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal in third and fourth place.
Just a few weeks later the most prestigious tournament on the tennis calendar takes place in London. Wimbledon 2024 takes place from Monday the 1st of July to Sunday the 14th.
For curious players looking to place some bets on the event, the early betting odds for this has Djokovovic as the 7/4 favourite.
This is unsurprising considering he has
won 6 of the last 10 Wimbledon titles, and featured in the final 8 times.
The U.S. Open takes place later in the Summer, from August 19th to September 8th. The tournament takes place in New York and the 2023 tournament boasted a prize pot of $65,000.
Some familiar names dominate the early betting as Djokovic once again is made the bookmakers' favourite at 9/5. Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev are also expected to be in with a chance.
Djokovic has held the rank of top male player on the ATP tour for over 400 weeks and is still 600 points ahead of closest rival Carlos Alcaraz.
Other events that Djokovic could take part in include the Miami Open in March, the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona Open in April, the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and Roland Garros before Wimbledon.
He also has the opportunity to make up for his Olympic heartbreak at Tokyo 2021 in this Summer's Paris Olympics.
