With rain delays playing a major part in Day Two of the Cincinnati Open, the schedule is stacked for Day Three. As ever, we will preview some of the main talking points on a non-stop Tuesday at the Western & Southern Open.
Centre Court slate features defending champions, Alcaraz, Jabeur and Fritz
On Centre Court at the Cincinnati Open, it all kicks off with ninth seed, Taylor Fritz who will face Jiri Lehecka. Having hardly lost any matches in recent months, the American has been on top form and heading into the US Open will hope that continues.
Defending champion Borna Coric follows in one of the main matches that was delayed due to rain with Coric 7-6, 4-3 up on Sebastian Korda. Alexander Zverev finally then gets his tournament underway. He faces Grigor Dimitrov in the third match up.
Ons Jabeur who has been missing injury wise since losing in the Wimbledon final will hope to recompose ahead of a busy time with Cincinnati shortly followed by the US Open. She takes on Rome finalist, Anhelina Kalinina.
Caroline Garcia, who like Coric is defending champion in her breakout 2022 will also hope to recapture her form. A year that has been steady but unspectacular, her points will soon drop off. She faces Sloane Stephens.
Before Carlos Alcaraz after a disappointing Toronto losing to Tommy Paul again aims to recapture his form after a puzzling tournament, he faces Jordan Thompson.
Azarenka-Krejcikova, Muchova-Haddad Maia, Norrie-Monfils and Wozniacki headline other courts
It is must watch tennis everywhere on Tuesday with Novak Djokovic even in doubles action. Also on the slate includes Victoria Azarenka facing Barbora Krejcikova, Roland Garros finalist Karolina Muchova faces Beatriz Haddad Maia in one of the ties of the opening round.
After Elina Svitolina withdrew, Caroline Wozniacki gets Varvara Gracheva in a winnable second round tie. Liudmila Samsonova unlike Elena Rybakina, Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula won't get much rest at all. She faces Linda Noskova after a gruelling and highly debated week in Montreal due to scheduling.
Gael Monfils has been in supreme form as of late. He faces Cameron Norrie. Marketa Vondrousova, Jennifer Brady, Dan Evans, Alex de Minaur, Danielle Collins and Petra Kvitova are also all in action among others.
Blink and you miss it action from Cincinnati incoming.
