"Biggest Federer fan but Novak Djokovic is the undisputed GOAT": Bouchard, Azarenka, Roddick, Wawrinka and Alcaraz all congratulate Djokovic on record breaking Grand Slam haul
Following his historic Grand Slam title win at the 2023 Roland Garros (French Open), Novak Djokovic has been lauded and congratulated by several members of the tennis community.
The Serbian won a record 23rd Grand Slam singles title on Sunday, the most by a male player in the Open Era. After his victory, members of the tennis community took to social media to congratulate the 36-year old.
"I’m the biggest Roger fan but we all have to admit Novak is the undisputed goat. Insanely impressive," wrote Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard.
"Legend!!! Congrats @djokernole on all you keep achieving and inspiring us to work harder each day,” wrote Bouchard's compatriot Denis Shapovalov.
Other tennis personalities also congratulated the Serbian, with many listing him among the all-time greats in sports.
"Whoever has seat at the goats table the last 40 years MJ, Brady in the house today, Serena, Steffi, Bolt, Phelps, Tiger, Gretzky, Rafa, Fed, Messi, Floyd, LBJ, Felix I am sure, there a lot more too, make a seat for Djoker,” said Brad Gilbert, former coach of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick.
Growing up in a household where soccer was king, my earliest memories are filled with chants from packed stadiums and the rhythm of a ball being passed across neighborhood streets. But somewhere along the way, the quiet elegance and raw emotion of tennis pulled me in. What began as a curiosity became a lifelong passion; not just for the sport itself, but for the stories it tells: of grit, of heartbreak, of improbable comebacks and human resilience.
As a tennis writer, I bring the observational lens of someone who didn’t grow up in the sport, but fell in love with it as an outsider; a perspective that lets me see both its technical beauty and its emotional depth. Over the years working with TennisUpToDate, I’ve had the privilege of reaching more than 3.5 million readers worldwide, with one of my features ranking among the site’s top three articles.
With a background in storytelling and a creative mind always searching for meaning beyond the scoreboard, I aim to craft narratives that go deeper than results and rankings. Whether it’s a rising star breaking through or a veteran fighting off Father Time, I try to capture the heartbeat behind the headlines.
