Chris Evert recalls her meeting with Princess Charlotte, saying it was 'absolutely delightful' to speak with her in the Royal Box at
Wimbledon.
American tennis legend Evert is one of the greatest women's singles players in history, with a total of 18 Grand Slam titles to her name, including seven
French Open titles and six
US Open victories.
It is no surprise then that Evert was seated in the Royal Box at this year's Wimbledon, a championship that she won three times across the late 1970s and early '80s.
Photos emerge of conversation with Princess
A fan took to social media recently to share photos of the former world No. 1 engaged in conversation with the young Princess Charlotte, who was seated in the Royal Box alongside her father Prince William, her mother Princess Catherine, and her older brother Prince George.
The original tweet by Uhuru Mzalendo highlighted how lovely it was for many to see the two getting along,
"@ChrissieEvert & her new bff #PrincessCharlotte was the combo I never knew I needed until served"
'absolutely delightful'
Evert responded positively to the tweet, writing
"she... was absolutley delightful!"
This added to the heart-warming moment, with some describing how the interaction can be seen as a way to bring different generations together.
In a similarly heart-warming interview earlier this month, the 68-year-old spoke to the press about her long-lasting friendship with former sporting rival Martina Navratilova. The pair shared how they had fostered their relationship over the decades, dealing with challenges as extreme as cancer diagnoses and treatments.
