Jimmy Connors is still on the Ons Jabeur bandwagon he says despite a disheartening loss in the final of 2023 Wimbledon.
After gaining revenge over Elena Rybakina after her 2022 defeat, she lost to unseeded outsider Marketa Vondrousova who previously reached the Roland Garros final.
But the Czech ace hadn't done much of note since the 2019 run in Paris. Connors still has faith though and is rooting for her to do some damage still.
"I'm still on Jabeur's bandwagon. I think she is going to break through and do some damage. She already does some damage. Look who she beat to get to the finals. I'm rooting for her. There are some people who just grab you," Connors said.

Incident surrounding wearing black on centre court

He also touched upon the incident surrounding Jabeur being kicked off Centre Court for wearing all-black without knowingly doing so being in the zone.
"She is getting enough press by being in the final. You don't need to do anything, change anything to get more press. I mean, your name is on the front page of every newspaper and on the news, the highlights of Wimbledon. It's crazy to upset a routine and try something different," Connors explained.
It will be interesting to see how Jabeur bounces back after previously saying it was the most painful loss of her career.
"I'll try to speak because this is very, very tough. But I'm gonna look ugly in the photos, so it's not gonna help. I think this is the most painful loss of my career," she said.
"It's gonna be a tough day today for me, but I'm not gonna give up and I'm gonna come back stronger and win. Thank you guys for coming. Thank you for cheering for me. The energy is amazing from day one here at Wimbledon. I really appreciate your support."

Ons Jabeur’s husband: “Yes this was painful, yes this was really tough. Yes this 1 made me cry like a baby. It’s ok to show emotions. Emotions are fuel that’ll make you stronger, wiser, & I’m pretty sure we’re on the right path. You just need to believe & keep working hard” 🥹
