Fans criticized the broadcasts of the
Wimbledon qualifiers,
as only one match was streamed by the services. In the United States, ESPN's
streaming service is only airing one match from the qualifiers, unlike other
Grand Slams where all courts are accessible.
This situation is not unique to the United States. In Latin
America, where ESPN also holds the television rights through its platform
Star+, the qualifiers cannot be viewed except for one court chosen by the
company.
Wimbledon qualifying got underway on Monday at the All England Club with first round matches. The matches will be played between 24 and 27 June and will define the 16 places in the men's and women's singles main draw.
“Please don't tell me that the year is 2024
and the only way to watch qualifying matches of the most prestigious tennis
tournament in the world is via betting websites or illegal streaming
websites...”
“Wimbledon
is by far the worst slam for watching Qualifying Here in the US, ESPN has it on
their streaming service, which is great, it's a feed from UK TV, but they only
give you only ONE court. The other 3 slams give you the option to choose the
court.”
