Richard Gasquet spoke to L'Equipe about playing the US Open and his opinion on happening of the last Grand Slam of the season.

Recently, the USTA announced that the US Open will be held as scheduled. Many players had different opinions on this as they found it unfair and some already said that they probably won't compete. Also, the 33-years-old Frenchman, who currently plays at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS), where no fans are allowed, expressed his opinion.
"The first thing is that everyone has to be able to play, that there are qualifiers. It is abnormal that some players go to play challengers and that others have points in the final table. If the players from South America cannot come, it is not normal. Everyone has to play or no one has to play. It seems very complicated to organize," Gasquet said.
"I think the players who say they are not going to go will be there when they are told that there is the tournament and the points. I'm not sure it's a good idea. It's a tennis business. I understand the position of the US Open but it does not seem very fair to all players. This is especially what scares me. We must stop today from having six-seven people around. I don't mind two, a trainer and a physiotherapist, or a trainer and your wife. When I got to the circuit, there weren't six guys around, you have to keep it right. It is not catastrophic to come with one or two people for three weeks," said Gasquet. "It is not death, life is long. This is not what shocks me. The important thing is that everyone can play, from the 300th to world number 1."
