If you can't find a doubles partner, why not bring your coach out of retirement. That was the case with
Fabio Fognini for a challenger next week in San Marino.
German Gaich has not played professionally since 2015 in a pretty unsuccessful career. He had a career high ranking of 740th back in 2009.
Fognini on the other hand has spent his career pretty strong with the mercurial Italian talent being both spectacular and poor summing up his efforts.
He is in the twilight of his career which is shown by the fact that he has to now play Challenger tournaments.
In this case in San Marino with Fognini in particular playing more doubles than singles as of late and likely will be using his coach to get more match practice in alongside playing in the singles.
