Rafa Nadal wins a great point against Carlos Alcaraz at the Netflix Slam. The greatest forehand the sport has seen, just getting warmed up. Cute little volley to finish. 🇪🇸
Serena Williams' former coach Rennae Stubbs has urged the WTA to do a better job when it comes to marketing.
Those comments from the 52-year-old came after the former world number one and Spain’s legendary tennis star Rafael Nadal and the current world number two Carlos Alcaraz recently appeared in an exhibition event for Netflix after the streaming giants announced their intentions to enter the sports industry.
Stubbs, who worked with Serena as a coach in the past, recently posted on her official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — where she urged the WTA to market better to ensure that women’s tennis gets projected in the best way possible.
"So @netflix getting into tennis is awesome. I really hope the @WTA can do a better job over the next 12 months of promoting their players more & getting some fun exos or team events or something on the calendar! Especially here in the states! Also where is the wta finals this yr?" she wrote.
There has been a discussion in the tennis community where it was highlighted in the past that the primary reason behind the popularity difference between men’s and women’s tennis is the marketing strategy used by the WTA.
