"Forever" - Christopher Eubanks announces engagement as tennis stars react to positive news

Christopher Eubanks has had a very busy period covering the US Open, but following the conclusion of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, the American proposed to his partner, Anna Mitchell, with the two now engaged.

The former professional tennis player posted the news on social media in a joint post with his new fiancé, confirming the terrific news with them stepping into the next step of their relationship. The post was captioned with "forever" with a love heart next to it.

The reaction to this was hugely positive, with many notable figures in the tennis world coming out to congratulate the pair. The top two WTA American tennis players Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff were among them to send their best wishes, with Gauff's mum, Candid, also commenting under the post.

The likes of Patrick Mouratoglou, Laura Robson, Taylor Townsend, Sloane Stephens, Tommy Paul and Asia Muhammad are among the prominent names in tennis to react to the news.

On Eubanks' Instagram story, he reposted a video of Mitchell showing off the engagement ring on her finger while seemingly out celebrating the special occasion.

Eubanks had officially put his tennis career to one side to focus on punditry and commenting. He is a regular with broadcasters such as the Tennis Channel and ESPN, ranging from the commentary booth to the analysis desk.

In his day he did have a lot of potential. A Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 2023, this run helped him to reach a career high of World No.29. A loss of joy, stress and burnout were all reasons for him to take the tricky step away from the sport. The 30-year-old has since thoroughly enjoyed his time with a microphone in his hand and is one of the most prominent former tennis players regularly appearing on TV screens around the world.

There are more reasons to celebrate in 2026. A number of engagements in the tennis world have occurred, with the former World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka finally getting her dream back in March with her now fiancé Georgios Frangulis ahead of her incredible Sunshine double.

Added to that, Maria Sakkari also got engaged to long-term partner Konstantinos Mitsotakis in January just before the start of the 2026 season.

From engagements to weddings, some of the biggest names in the sport were tying the knot, and none more recognisable than Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter. One of the most well-known tennis relationships currently in the sport, the duo have gone from strength to strength away from the court and while their form on it had not been as great of late, a smile was put on their faces as they enjoyed the best days of their lives.

Daria Kasatkina, Casper Ruud and Tommy Paul also got married in a similar space of time, concluding Wimbledon where there was a bit of a gap ahead of the North American hardcourt swing where they managed to find some free time in their extremely busy schedules.
