With the off season approaching, attention also turns to the exhibitions that will take place including the World Tennis League which returns for 2023 and features a star studded line-up with the groups now confirmed.
Frances Tiafoe leads Falcons who will face Hawks in the first round robin match and this includes Taylor Fritz, Leylah Fernandez and Elena Rybakina. Only Rybakina who last year was on the Hawks team returns from the 2022 victors.
Swiatek lost in the final last year alongside Felix Auger-Aliassime, Holger Rune and Sania Mirza. All also do not return, the same can be said for Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios who were also involved.
In the other side of the draw, Eagles will comprise Daniil Medvedev as their captain alongside Andrey Rublev, currently Belinda Bencic (but with the recent pregnancy announcement, she could yet be replaced) and Sofia Kenin. While Kites who lost in the final last year will be captained by Stefanos Tsitsipas alongside Grigor Dimitrov and best friends in Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa.
There is also of course the likelihood of Tsitsidosa teaming up in the mixed doubles which was set for Wimbledon, but Badosa withdrew due to injury so that is a likely first time occurrence in Abu Dhabi.
How the format works is they play each other in a round robin format consisting of one men's singles match, one women's singles match and a mixed doubles match. Following the round robin, the final will take place.
