Greece’s tennis star
Stefanos Tsitsipas has stated that he
expects his father to be on his side for years to come.
A user on the social media platform Reddit asked about the possibility
of Apostolos Tsitsipas stopping flying with the 25-year-old on the tour in the
near future.
In response to that, Tsitsipas stated that his father is the
foundation of his success and that he will never ‘stop’ being on his side.
"My father has been a great foundation for my tennis
and personal balance in life,” he wrote. “All he deserves is respect and
appreciation for the work that he has put in. He will never stop being by my
side."
Tsitsipas will now turn his focus towards on-court action ahead
of the upcoming
US Open where he does not have a great record.
The Athens-born has the poorest record while playing at the Flashing
Medows where he has never played in the fourth round or beyond.
His best performance while playing at the US Open was reaching
the third round twice — in 2020 and later in 2021.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
on Monday where players from all over the globe will battle it out for the ultimate
glory.
Tsitsipas will face Canada’s Milos Raonic in the first round
of the competition on Monday.
