Tennis legend,
Pete Sampras was back in the news this week but for a reason which got fans annoyed as Daily Mail US ran an article calling him 'completely unrecognizable' as he was pictured out a Starbucks.
Sampras retired from professional tennis in 2003 and barring playing exhibition matches, he has shunned a life at the forefront of tennis for some-time and has been living a fairly quiet existence. As well as having inner turmoil with his wife, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
In the article, they said he was 'completely unrecognisable' which given his wife having cancer saw fans react negatively and trash the newspaper for their portrayal of Sampras and not leaving him alone to live his life. "His wife is going through cancer and this is how you portray him? Beyond appalling," one fan wrote.
"I would ask if you had no shame but I already know you don't and you'd lie about it anyway. Leave Pete Sampras alone. You know what his wife and family are going through right now. Disgusting, classless behavior," another wrote.
"He is easily recognizable and [is] just ageing like the rest of us. This is extremely disrespectful and hateful. Please leave the man alone as he attends to his wife," a further fan wrote. Others said that they missed Sampras and told the newspaper to leave him alone and stop being so disrespectful and hateful in their portrayal.
