Losing back-to-back Hopman Cup ties, Denmark were dumped out by France with Holger Rune losing to Richard Gasquet in his singles tie.

But all wasn't what it seemed when it came to the Dane if reports are to be believed. According to EkstraBladet, Rune has been ill for four days in bed with a fever.

He has also developed pain in his wrist and his upper back as a result with his mother Aneke telling him not to play both the Hopman Cup and withdraw from Umag.

But that he ultimately has the final say. "He does not want to be sick," she said.

This form in particular is alarming given mere weeks ago, he reached the Quarter-Finals in WImbledon losing to Carlos Alcaraz.

He has been in good form, but in a similar story to Rybakina has fell ill and likely won't be 100% for some time but due to the unforgiving nature of the tour won't take a break.
